Your child is identified as a gifted student - the student has a Gifted IEP - you have read and understand those gifted ed materials
available from the Pennsylvania Department of Education and you are very satisfied with your child's educational progress. Congratulations!
If your satisfaction is the result of 'sweat equity', your being hands-on throughout the GIEP
process, then please share your experiences at advocacy and any lessons learned with other parents. They may be benefit
from your experience. The more parents there are who can advocate effectively, the better it is for all gifted students.
If
you have been able to approve the district plans without much, if any input, and are very satisfied with your
District's programs, be sure to let the people who put in place the gifted ed system: your district's gifted education
supervisor, director of Pupil Services, and - most importantly - the teachers of gifted, know that you appreciate their
efforts.
Gift children's needs change over time. Ensure you maintain your level of satisfaction make sure that
you and the rest of the Gifted IEP team take those changes into account during your next GIEP meeting.
